Operational inspections must be carried out regularly. This maintains both occupational health and safety. 

According to the Occupational Safety Act (ASiG), the regular inspection of workplaces is one of the duties of the employers (employer representatives, § 3 para.1,2 ArbSchG; § 2 para.2 ASiG), the specialists for occupational safety (§ 6 para.1 ASiG), the company physicians (§ 3 para.1 ASiG), the employee representatives (§ 89 para. 2 BetrVG), the safety representative(s) (§ 22 SGB VII), if necessary the works manager, division manager, representative for severely disabled persons.

A site inspection includes:
  • Stocktaking (actual state)
  • Analysis of the potential for improvement
  • Action plan with practice-oriented solutions
  • Inspection of documentation (e.g. goods receipt, temperatures...)
